PANDAN, Antique – An 86-year-old male from Barangay Jinalinan here died from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the town’s sixth fatality due to the pandemic.
According to Mayor Plaridel Sanchez VI, the patient died on June 10.
The patient was taken to the Justice Calixto O. Zaldivar Memorial Hospital on June 8 after complaining of losing his sense of taste.
“In light of the alarming rise of COVID-19 cases and deaths, we highly encourage the cooperation of the public. Avoid unnecessary gatherings and continue to follow our public health and safety protocols as we continue to work and contain the local transmission of COVID-19 in our community,” said Sanchez.
He called on people who had close contact with the man who died, especially those who exhibited COVID-19 symptoms, to isolate themselves

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough.
Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. Some people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don’t feel unwell.
Meanwhile, the mayor urged frontliners, senior citizens and persons with comorbidities “to get enlisted for vaccination as soon as possible in your local Barangay Health Center or our Pandan Rural Health Unit.”/PN
