ILOILO – A 68-year-old woman died after she was hit by a motorcycle in Barangay Bagacay, Pototan town over the weekend.
Police Staff Sergeant Garry Peronilla of the Pototan Police Station confirmed that alias “Ana” was rushed to Iloilo Provincial Hospital but succumbed to her injuries at around 2 a.m.
Peronilla said the accident occurred in a dimly lit area while the victim was crossing the road on Saturday night, February 1.
The motorcycle driven by the 34-year-old alias “Mike”, a resident of the town’s Barangay Lay-ahan, was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision.
Pototan police said the victim and the driver were reportedly relatives, and their families are set to discuss the incident.
Meanwhile, the driver was temporarily in police custody./PN
