Elementary school principal stabbed to death

ROXAS City – An elementary school principal was stabbed to death by his drinking buddy in his apartment at Green Earth Subdivision, Barangay Mongpong here.

Neighbors discovered Jun Mercedez, 57, and principal of Minoro Elementary School in Barangay Bula, Mambusao, Capiz, dead around 1:55 a.m. on Aug. 16. He had multiple stab wounds.

From what the Roxas City police so far gathered, Mercedez, together with Alvin Aniero and another companion who was later identified as the suspect John Peter Obarra of Mambusao, Capiz, had a drinking binge outside Mercedez’ house.

Aniero eventually left Mercedez and Obarra.

Moments later, according to occupants in the adjacent apartment, Aurelio Cadaing and Christina Millado, they heard the voice of the victim’s minor-aged daughter screaming for help.

When they checked on it, they saw the bleeding Mercedez on the floor.

Emergency responders of the city government took Mercedez to The Health Centrum Hospital. There, he was declared dead upon arrival by the attending physician.

According to Roxas City police chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Aaron Palomo, the suspect (Obarra) surrendered through Barangay Captain Renante Leonardo of Barangay Balat-an, Mambusao, Capiz./PN
