ILOILO City – Basketball teams from Elite Lab emerged as champions in the 21-Under and 17-Under category of the 2022 Chairman’s Cup on Sunday night at the University of San Agustin Gym here.
Elite Lab U-21 clinched the championship in the 21-Under category following a 81-73 beating of Conce Crita Villa in the finals. Rolen John Pantin spearheaded the offense with 31 points.
The Elite Lab U-21 also drew strength from Dave Bagatnan, John Lester Amagan, Irele Galas, Matt Atanas, Roy Oscar Jacinto, Fritz Suclan, and Gwyn Pendon.
Also part of the John Guanco-mentored team were Ryan Futalan, Kent John Parreñas, Moises dela Cruz, Ryan Dellina, Laurence Chua, Lorenzo Yu, Kaime Cuntapay, Jaime Papa, and Renel Jopillo.
The Elite Lab U-21 reached the finals with a 63-47 domination over Atop, while Conce Crita Villa also cruised to 100-64 annihilation over Hustle in the other semis.
Elite Lab U-17, meanwhile, bagged the 17-Under category title with a 92-35 beating of the injury-hit M&D Ros. JP Czar Gaspillo top-scored with Elite Lab with 22 markers.
Gaspillo’s teammates Erlance Pedrita and Burgs Lapu-os were named as part of mythical team aside from Chad Cartel (M&D Ros), Villalobos (M&D Ros) and Acosta (Pototan).
Also making their presence felt for Elite Lab U-17 were Shaun Guamela, Lorenzo Antonio Robles, Paul Jovan Santome, Samuel Madison, John Lloyd Martinez and Arlex Tiolo.
Completing the squad, also being handled by Guanco, were Joardel Linga, Jason John Rodas, Dhael Vargas, Prinz Jurisprudencia, Karl Alfred Ferrer, Keith Lauron, Rojie Enderes and Arturo Teruel.
The Elite Lab U-17 reached the gold medal round following 73-52 beating of Phantom Roxas in the semifinals, while M&D Ros edged Pototan, 76-72, in the other game.
