AFTER coming out with his self-titled album two years ago, Elmo Magalona said it is high time for him to focus on his singing career again this year after working on his recent film “Walwal.”
“I’m working on my album so there’s new music coming for this year. It’s under Universal records. I’m going to be working with Universal but the new thing about this album is I’ll be writing most of the songs. Kasi for my first album hindi ko siya mabigyan ng creative writing but for this one I’m definitely going to be writing it. Actually it’s not going to be one whole album kasi. So pa-single single lang siya, ganyan,” he told PUSH.
Elmo said his new compositions will be a mix of different musical genres. “Abangan nila, yun lang (laughs). Kasi I don’t want to be known for just one kind of sound. I want to try different kinds of sound and yun, that’s what I’m going to be showing for my album. Mapapaisip kayo at magiging malungkot kayo (laughs). Joke lang. Not naman emo pero I guess I try to make it relatable kasi most of the things that I’ll write will be some of my personal experiences,” he explained.
A big influence on the 24-year-old singer’s music is his late father Francis Magalona. “Of course, malaking influence talaga yung dad ko in terms of my music and me as a performer talaga. Pero I try to make my own sound din para lang ma-differentiate, para mas maging distinct yung songs ko and yung music ko,” he said. (Push)
