ILOILO City – The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 6 has dispatched aid to families displaced in CARAGA due to recent adverse weather conditions, including a shear line and low-pressure area.

CARAGA, officially the Caraga Administrative Region and designated as Region 13, is an administrative region in the northeastern section of Mindanao. It comprises the provinces of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur; six cities (Bayugan, Bislig, Butuan, Cabadbaran, Surigao and Tandag); 67 municipalities; and 1,311 barangays.

Led by OCD-6 Director Raul Fernandez and in collaboration with the Philippine Coast Guard, the 6th Forward Service Support Unit of the Philippine Army, and the Iloilo City Police Office, essential supplies were sent to alleviate the hardships of affected communities.

The dispatched welfare goods included 2,000 units of bottled water, 1,500 boxes of hygiene kits, 400 boxes of family packs, 120 bags of shelter repair kits, and 300 blankets.

BRP Cape San Agustin of the Philippine Coast Guard played a key role in transporting these supplies, ensuring a swift response.

Over 110,000 families, amounting to 444,310 individuals, have been affected by the inclement weather in CARAGA, with significant damage to property and livelihoods. (With a report from OCD-6)/PN
