ILOILO – Brigadier General John Bulalacao, outgoing director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), commended the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) for the latter’s major accomplishments during his farewell visit in Barangay Sumagaysay, Sta. Barbara town last Friday.
An emotional Bulalacao thanked the men and women of IPPO for their contributions to PRO-6 under his watch. He also lauded the leadership of Colonel Marlon Tayaba.
These accomplishments include the drug war, anti-private armed group operations, and the orderly conduct of the May 13, 2019 midterm elections.
“Kung ako ang pipili, Iloilo PPO is the most accomplished police provincial office dahil sa dami ng major accomplishments led by Colonel Tayaba,” said Bulalacao, who will retire on June 27. He has been serving with the police for 35 years.
The former spokesperson of the Philippine National Police reminded IPPO personnel to always protect their “service reputation” and promote discipline among their ranks.
Bulalacao also urged them to show “utmost dedication to duty” and believe in the power of prayers.
Meanwhile, Tayaba showed his appreciation for Bulalacao whom he said is the only regional director who fought for the rights of police personnel in the field.
“Naging very emotional sia (Bulalacao). Pinasalamatan niya lahat ng kapulisan natin, lahat na chiefs of police sa binigay na support and cooperation to him as our regional director,” said Tayaba.
Bulalacao has been going around different provincial and city police offices in Region 6 to bid goodbye to his personnel.
Tayaba is also ending his two-year stint as IPPO chief this month.
As IPPO director, Tayaba bagged the “Best Senior Police Commissioned Officer for Operations Award” during the 117th Police Service anniversary celebration in August 2018 in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
Under his leadership, drug lord Richard Prevendido was neutralized on Sept. 1, 2017
“Well, since I’m still the provincial director I have the moral obligation to maintain the orderliness and tranquility that we are experiencing right now in the province of Iloilo,” said Tayaba./PN
