MANILA β Emperador Inc., the world’s largest brandy company, on Monday bared plans to expand its international footprint, as the company said its focus in the near term will be to globalize its businesses.
In an interview, Emperador president and Chief Executive Officer Winston Co said the company is currently taking a globalization approach to spur the growth of the company’s business, which has an international reach to at least 102 countries.
“I think there are more than 200 countries in the world, so there are still opportunities that we are looking at,” he said, noting that the company is looking at different markets in the region.
“In the region here, because where you look at it, there are only a few Asian countries that we are not present in and that’s the remainder we’re trying to get,” said Co.
Within the region, Co said Emperador is looking at expanding its market in India and capturing a new on in Myanmar.
“In Asia, we might be going to Myanmar which we are not there yet, we’re going to India… we’re there but ‘yung high-end products lang natin, but we are going in India in a bigger way” added Co.
Emperador’s portfolio includes United Kingdom-based Whyte and Mackay Group, the fifth largest Scotch whiskey manufacturer in the world; Bodegas Fundador S.L.U in Spain, the owner of Fundador; and Domecq Bodega Las Copas, S.L which has an established presence in North and South America.
Among the company’s brands are Emperador Brandy; Emperador Light; Emperador Deluxe Spanish Edition; Emperador Solera Brandy; Andy Player Whisky; The BaR; Smirnoff Mule; The Dalmore Single Highland Malt; Jura Premium Single Malt; Tamnavulin Single Malt Scotch Whisky; Fettercairn; Whyte & Mackay Blended Scotch Whisky; Valdivar Vodka; Glayva; Claymore; Cluny; John Barr; Fundador; Terry Centenario; Tres Cepas; and Harveys.
The company, Co said, is also currently in talks to expand its business further in other markets such as Eastern Europe and Africa.
“Actually, maraming under discussion. Globally, we’re under a lot of discussions… What is big right now for us a region is Eastern Europe and Africa,” he said.
“We are in a few African states, but that is our focus in the next couple of years kasi may opportunity ‘yan for both expensive and accessible,” added Co. (GMA News)
