MANILA – Enderun College Lady Titans completed its perfect run in the 2022 NAASCU women’s volleyball championship on Monday at the Technological University of the Philippines Gym in Taguig City.
The Enderun women’s volleyball wrapped up the NAASCU tiara with a 25-19, 25-10, 25-16 straight-set victory over the TUP in Game 2 of the best-of-three championship series.
Shane Carmona was hailed as NAASCU women’s volleyball Most Valuable Player, while fellow Negrenses Erika Deloria and Rhean Almendralejo were named as Best Hitter and Best Setter, respectively.
Carmona, Deloria and Almendralejo, along with rookie Aurea Alvero were all former standouts of the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts secondary girls volleyball team.
The Lady Titans made its presence felt in opening set as they jumped to a quick 20-12 edge. TUP tried to keep the match close at 17-23 but consecutive scores by Enderun closed the first set.
Enderun had another strong start in the second frame for a 16-7 advantage. The Lady Titans went on to build a 2-0 set edge as the lead grew to as high as 15 points.
TUP tried to salvage the match in the third set with a 6-3 start but Enderun turned things around to take a 12-9 lead before widening it further to as high as nine points to seal the championship.
Also part of Enderun team were Althea Botor, Althea Negrito, Demure Orito, Michaella Ma, Fiona Abijay, Jennalyn Dulay, Beatrice Carlos, Aira Arcolas, Zenneth Perolino, Mikaela Ramirez and Denise Dueñas.
The Lady Titans also won the first game of the finale against TUP, 25-16, 25-19, 25-11, while they also edged St. Clare Lady Saints in the semifinals round, 25-13, 25-18, 25-13.
In the elimination round, the Lady Titans completed a 4-0 win-loss standings with victories over the Lady Saints, Our Lady of Fatima University, TUP and Philippine Christian University, in that order./PN
