Enrollment for new school year starts July 25

ILOILO City – Enroll your children early, the Department of Education (DepEd) in Region 6 urged parents and guardians.

School Year 2022 – 2023 begins on Aug. 22. Enrollment in public and private schools starts on July 25.

According to Hernani Escullar Jr., regional information officer of DepEd-6, enrollment ends on Aug. 22, citing DepEd Order No. 034.

“Contact lang sila sa ila teacher or adviser about the requirements,” said Escullar.

He also stressed that the enrollment is free; there are no charges or fees.

Initially, classes will still be blended. But gradually by November, all classes must already be in-person or face-to-face.

Also prior to the opening of classes, there will be a Brigada Eskwela – from Aug. 15 to 26.

The National Schools Maintenance Week is an annual activity led by DepEd where everyone in the school community – including the private sector – work together to prepare schools for the opening of the classes.

“Ang aton mga ginikanan gina-encourage gid ipa-enroll ang kabatan as early as July 25 para indi kita mag ginutok sa bulothoan. Bal-an naton ang COVID-19 ara gihapon sa aton palibot,” stressed Escullar.

From March 25 to April 30, DepEd-6 held a pre-registration for school year 2022-2023; 360,571 learners pre-registered.

Here’s breakdown of the 360,571 learners that pre-registered:

* Kinder – 68,473

* Grade 1 – 104,400

* Grade 7 – 93,026

* Grade 11 – 94,672

Region 6 has 5,068 registered schools – 4,045 public schools; 1,010 private schools; and 13 local universities and colleges, and state universities and colleges./PN
