Epogon group ‘member’ shot to death

BACOLOD City – An alleged member of the so-called “Epogon Robbery Group” was shot to death on San Isidro Street, Barangay San Pedro, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.

Police identified the fatality as Allen Rivera, 20, of Barangay Lopez, Silay City, Negros Occidental.

According to the police, Allen and his brother Arman had just been released from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in the town on a drug-related charge.

Their mother Marlin was with them at that time.

Pick-up-riding suspects attacked Allen around 12:30 p.m. on March 27, police said. Marlin and Arman, meanwhile, were able to elude the shooting.

Allen was rushed to the Binalbagan Infirmary but the attending physician declared him “dead on arrival.”

Police recovered five spent shells of a .45- caliber pistol and one fired slug from the crime scene.

As of this writing, the identity of the suspects remained unclear.

Allen was reportedly the son of Arnold Rivera, an alleged member of the “Epogon Robbery Group”, who was shot dead in Silay City’s Barangay E. Lopez on March 19./PN
