MANILA – Former president and Manila City mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada was moved back to the intensive care unit (ICU) after diagnosed with a super imposed bacterial lung infection, his son Jinggoy said.
“We wish to announce that my father had a slight set back last night (Thursday) as his doctors found a super imposed bacterial lung infection,” the former senator wrote on social media on Friday.
“He has been brought back to the regular ICU (non-COVID) for monitoring and support of his blood pressure which fluctuated due to the said infection,” he added.
The former senator said his father is in stable condition with “high flow oxygen support.” He once again asked for prayers for Erap’s immediate recovery.
Erap was rushed to the hospital on March 28 due to a low oxygen level. He later tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Last week, he was moved to the ICU and was intubated due to pneumonia. He tested negative for COVID on Tuesday but stayed in the hospital for recovery./PN
