Erap in ‘stable’ condition – Jinggoy

MANILA – Former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada’s condition is improving amid battle with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), his son Jinggoy said.

The former senator said his father is in stable condition and his inflammatory markers are on a downward trend.

“As per updates from my father’s physicians, he continues to be in stable condition. His kidney function is improving and his requirement for oxygen support is also slowly getting better. His other vital organs are functioning well,” Jinggoy said Wednesday.

In a separate interview earlier in the day, Jinggoy said the former President remains sedated and prohibited from taking Ivermectin.

Nag-improve na ang kondisyon ng dad ko,” Jinggoy told GMA’s Unang Balita. “Tinanong ko kung puwede bigyan ng Ivermectin, tinanggihan ako ng doktor.”

The 83-year-old Estrada was placed on a mechanical ventilator on Tuesday after his pneumonia worsened.

He was rushed to the hospital on March 29 and became positive for COVID-19. He was transferred to the intensive care unit after developing pneumonia.

Meanwhile, Jinggoy said his wife and aunts tested positive for the virus after having close contact with Erap, and they are all asymptomatic./PN
