THE country’s Prince of Pop Erik Santos continues to enjoy a successful career since winning ABS-CBN’s “Star in a Million” in 2004.
As he celebrates his 15th year in showbiz, the Pinoy balladeer attributed part of his success to his former manager, Boy Abunda.
How did he gain the King of Talk’s approval? Santos had to audition inside Abunda’s car.
On Tuesday’s “Tonight with Boy Abunda,” the pair reenacted the moment when Abunda was busy talking on the phone while Santos was performing.
“I want to take this opportunity to honor you. You were the very first person to believe in me,” he told the TV personality.
The concert, “My Greatest Moment”, will take place at the Mall of Asia Arena on Sept. 22.
“The King of OPM Theme Songs” will also release a new album, which will include collaborations with Sarah Geronimo and Regine Velasquez, among other Pinoy hitmakers.
Despite a stable career, Santos is still afraid to lose the spotlight.
“Alam ko naman na dadating ako sa point na iyon pero huwag muna. Ang dami ko pang gustong gawin eh. Gusto ko pang i-continue ‘yung pagkanta. Gusto ko pang mag-release ng maraming songs. I found my purpose diyan sa pagkanta. I think I get to inspire people through my singing,” he said. (ABS-CBN News)
