Escalante shooting victim dies

BACOLOD City – One of the three victims in the shooting incident in Escalante City, Negros Occidental has died.

The family of 18-year-old Jevan Sayson informed the Escalante City police that he passed away due to a gunshot that hit his kidney.

Suspect Romualdo Abarido Jr. is now facing charges for homicide, frustrated homicide and direct assault to person in authority, according to Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office spokesperson Police Capt. Judesses Catalogo.

On Saturday, July 1, brawl erupted between two groups during the village fiesta.

Police Master Sergeant Teofesto Aburido, a member of the city police’s intelligence unit, responded.

The suspect opened fire, hitting the cop, Sayson, and 34-year-old Jay-r Garganera. 

Abarido is currently detained at the Escalante City police station./PN
