ILOILO City – Mayor Jose Espinosa III is currently attending the 6th World Cities Summit and Mayors Forum 2018 in Singapore.
He aims to promote the city as well as establish international links through this five-day (July 8 to 12) global meeting of government leaders organized by the Singaporean government.
The Mayors Forum is an exclusive by-invitation-only gathering of leaders to discuss pressing city challenges and share best practices in governance and planning, technology and social innovations.
This year’s forum theme is “Embracing the Future through Innovation and Collaboration.” The summit is being held at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
The biennial summit is the premier platform for government leaders and industry experts to address livable and sustainable city challenges, share integrated urban solutions and forge new partnerships.
Espinosa has prioritized the delivery of city government services through innovative means. The “Pag-ulikid sang Syudad” program conducts frontline services in the barangays, thus bringing governance closer to the people.
“No matter how progressive the city’s economy is, it is still useless if people cannot feel it. This program brings city government services directly to its people,” said Espinosa.
He has also constantly emphasized the importance of collaboration between the city government and its stakeholders in addressing the needs and challenges of making Iloilo City a “Premier SMART City of Excellence.”/PN
