ILOILO – The municipalities of Guimbal and Estancia are temporarily suspending the return of locally stranded individuals (LSIs) to avoid congestion in their respective quarantine facilities.
In Resolution No. 83, the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force approved the request of these local government units (LGUs) for a moratorium.
The resolution, signed by Director Juan Jovian Engeniero of the Department of Interior and Local Government Region 6, approved the request of Guimbal for a 13-day moratorium beginning today.
Guimbal, on the other hand, has a 15-day suspension of LSI arrivals which began yesterday.
The moratorium will allow the LGUs to decongest and expand existing quarantine and isolation facilities for confirmed and suspected coronavirus disease 2019 cases.
As of Nov. 29, Estancia had a total of 37 COVID-19 infections – with zero active cases, 31 recoveries and six deaths.
In Guimbal, health authorities reported a total of 101 cases, 33 of which are active, 64 recovered and four dead./PN
