ETCS ’81 cries justice for batchmate’s killing

BACOLOD City – The Education and Training Center School-1 (ETCS-1) Batch 1981 strongly condemned the brutal murder of their batchmate.

ECTS ’81, in a statement, demanded that Jerry Gasendo’s death not be another statistic in the countless unsolved assassinations, which just lends impunity to these murderers to go on a rampage and commit extrajudicial killings.

Gasendo, 40, and a resident of the city’s Barangay 40, was riding on his motorcycle along Araneta Street in Barangay Tangub when unidentified motorcycle riding-in-tandem suspects shot him around 1:37 p.m. on Nov. 2.

Gasendo succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.

The police recovered empty shells of a caliber .45 firearm at the crime scene and are yet to determine the motive of the assailants for shooting the victim.

“Gasendo was mercilessly gunned down by riding-in-tandem suspects. He was a businessman and a father who did everything he could to raise his children singlehandedly after his wife passed away more than a decade ago. He will always be remembered as a good friend, an artist, and a great dad to his children”, read part of ETCS Batch ’81’s statement.

“We pray for strength for his family members to weather this tragedy, and we also request the public to respect the grief that they are going through. It does not matter whether the man led a life as meek as a sheep or perhaps just lived off on a trade that teeters on utmost risk and danger. None of these justify killing,” the statement further said.

The group also called for a speedy resolution to the murder and to haul in the perpetrators so that justice will be served./PN
