MANILA – Ethan Alvano had another solid game as Wonju DB Promy scored a close 80-76 win over Suwon KT Sonicboom in the 2022-2023 Korean Basketball League on Monday night at the Wonju Sports Complex.
The Filipino-American gunner led the way with 17 points, including two three-point baskets, to go with six assists, three rebounds, one block and one steal as the Promy scored back-to-back wins for a 14-20 record.
Sangjae Kang chipped in double-double 16 points and 10 rebounds, Lenard Freeman contributed 14 markers and eight boards, while Dewan Hernandez had 11 points for the Promy.
Ha Yoongi top-scored for the Sonicboom with 24 points, Seongmo Choi added 14 markers, former PBA import Lester Prosper had double-double 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Dave Ildefonso finished with just six points, including two crucial baskets in their last minute rally attempt, for the Sonicboom, which slumped to 14-19 after suffering their second straight loss.
Meanwhile, Calvin Epistola edged Justin Gutang in the scoring game but it was the latter who had the last laugh as Changwon LG Sakers defeated Jeonju KCC Aegis, 93-74, at the Changwon Gymnasium.
The Filipino-Canadian Epistola had a better showing in his second game for the Aegis with 10 points, including two triples, to go with three assists, two rebounds and a steal but they dropped to 16-17.
Gutang, a former College of St. Benilde Blazers winger, was scoreless in 17 minutes but has two assists and a rebound but his LG Sakers continued their winning streak to move up to 20-12.
Assem Marei led the way for the LG Sakers with 19 points and seven rebounds, former NBA center Dante Cunningham had double-double 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Jaedo Lee and Yoon Won-sang ended with 11 markers each.
Ex-NBA forward Rondae Hollis Jefferson top-scored for the losing Aegis with 19 points, while former PBA import Ra Guna, known to PBA fans as Ricardo Ratliffe, added 12 markers./PN
