ILOILO City – “Everything is in place” for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit meetings in Boracay Island and this city this February and March, announced the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
“We have enough personnel to be deployed,” said Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, regional police spokesperson.
Gorero declining to cite figures but he said they will adopt the major events security framework where all concerned government agencies will have to work together to ensure the peaceful conduct of the meetings.
Boracay will play host to the Asean Ministerial Meeting (AMM) and the Asean Committee on Migrant Workers (ACMW) Meeting this month.
Iloilo City will be the venue for two ministerial and two senior officials’ meetings in March.
Gorero said they have so far not received any report on any threat that may disrupt the conduct of the meetings. (PNA)
