ILOILO City – A former director of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) would be Mayor Jerry Treñas’ new Executive Assistant (EA).
Effective January next year, Police Colonel Uldarico Garbanzos, who just retired from the police service, will be Treñas’ assistant for the operations of the Iloilo City Action and Response (ICARE) command centers and substations.
“Ma-detalye sia kaayo. We need him very much,” said Treñas.
This southern city will have a total of nine ICARE stations – one the command center and the rest satellite stations.
Treñas said the ICARE command center established through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) at Gaisano Iloilo City Center along Diversion Road in Mandurriao district would be operational by the first quarter of next year.
The state-of-the-art five-story structure is situated on the 375-square meter (sqm) site provided by the Gaisano Capital Group of Companies.
It will house the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO), and police and fire stations.
Another PPP initiative is ICARE in the Mandurriao police station at the Iloilo Business Park, which provided some 2,500sqm space.
On Nov. 8, this city opened its first ICARE Center satellite building at Barangay Calumpang in Molo district.
“The facility is the first-of-its-kind in Western Visayas. It will be equipped with an ambulance, police patrol and fire truck. We are bringing faster emergency response services closer to the constituents,” said Treñas.
He added the same will be installed in Ungka in Jaro; Nabitasan in La Paz; Sooc in Arevalo; Tanza Esperanza in City Proper’ and in Balantang and Balabago in Jaro./PN
