BACOLOD City – An ex-convict was arrested on Saturday. He yielded P1 million worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Purok Pablo Torre, Barangay Vista Alegre, this city.

Alfredo Aplasca Jr., 57, was a resident of the place. He served jail time for illegal drugs sometime in 2012.

Police recovered a total of 153 grams of shabu valued at P1,040,000.

The buy-bust was carried out at around 4:25 a.m. by operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).

Police Capt. Joven Mogato, CDEU head, said their investigation revealed that Aplasca had connections with Michael Frias, a suspected member of the Caunda drug group.

Frias was arrested in the same barangay on Aug. 10 with P14.3 million worth of shabu.

Last week, BCPO director Police Col. Noel Aliño said they expect bigger illegal drug confiscations ahead of the MassKara Festival.

The recent high-value seizures, he said, were a sign that drug dealers have started stocking up their supplies for the festivities.

Police commanders and anti-drug operatives were ordered to prioritize targeting high-value suspects to disrupt the supply flow of illegal drugs. (Watchmen Daily Journal)
