ILOILO City – A resident of Barangay Biga, Silang, Cavite was arrested in Barangay Tamburing, San Lorenzo, Guimaras.
Randy Macariza, a former police officer, was charged with rape in relation to Republic Act 7610, or the Special Protection for Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, a police report showed.
He was accused of sexually assaulting a minor in Tagaytay City last year.
It was not immediately clear why Macariza was in the island province of Guimaras.
San Lorenzo police served the 36-year-old suspect a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Jaime Santiago of the Regional Trial Court Branch 18 (Tagaytay City). Judge Santiago did not grant Macariza bail.
Macariza was taken to the San Lorenzo police station where he was temporarily detained after his arrest around 5:30 p.m. on Monday./PN
