ILOILO – A former member of the Philippine National Police Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay San Andres, San Rafael town on Wednesday, Oct. 26.
Reybert Abawa, 48, and a resident of the above-mentioned barangay, is considered a high-value individual (HVI).
Police Lieutenant Johnny Oro, chief of the San Rafael police station, said they recovered 10 sachets of suspected shabu, including the buy-bust item, valued at around P81,600.
“Inamin niya na gumagamit siya aside from selling. Matagal na rin nating sinubaybayan ang activities niya at ngayon nahuli na rin natin sa tulong ng mga assets,” Oro said.
Abawa joined the police force in 1996. He tested positive in a random drug test in 2016, resulting to his dismissal from the service.
Abawa is now in the custody of the San Rafael police station and will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
