Ex-ICPO director is Treñas’ new EA for community welfare

ILOILO City – Retired Police Colonel Uldarico Garbanzos has been officially appointed by Mayor Jerry Treñas as Executive Assistance (EA) for Community Welfare.

Garbanzos was the former director of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).

The mayor cited Garbanzos’ “loyalty to his oath founded on the vision of the Philippine National Police as a highly capable, effective and credible police service working in partnership with a responsive community towards the attainment of a safer place to live, work and do business.”

As EA for Community Welfare, Garbanzos is tasked to oversee and assist in the operation of the Iloilo City Action and Response (ICARE) Command Center manned by personnel from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Philippine National Police and Bureau of Fire Protection.

He will also assist in the management and operations of the Balay Dalayunan: A Home for the Boys in Bo. Obrero, Lapuz, ensuring the peace and safety of both staff and residents therein.

Balay Dalayunan is a rehabilitation center for boys, particularly children-in-conflict with the law (CICL).

His other tasks are:

* to oversee and assist in the operation of Iloilo City Emergency Operation Center (OpCen)

* recommend appropriate measures to safeguard the safety and social protection of the community

* to ensure strict enforcement of laws, local ordinances and executive orders

* perform other related tasks and functions as may be assigned by the local chief executive/PN
