ILOILO – A 53-year-old former inmate was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Trapiche, Oton town on Thursday afternoon, June 13.
Sharon Cantera, a resident of the aforementioned barangay, was caught by officers of the Oton Municipal Police Station (MPS) after she handed a plastic sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer for P6,000.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Abner Jordan, chief of the Oton MPS, said a total of 55 grams of suspected shabu valued at around P374,000 were recovered from the suspect.
Jordan said the suspect’s activity was monitored for over a month where she was operating in the towns in Iloilo Province’s 1st District.
The police chief added that Cantera was jailed for illegal drug charges in 2022 and availed of plea bargaining.
The suspect was detained at the Oton MPS, facing charges for violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
