Ex-rebel ambushed

BACOLOD City – An alleged former leader of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade (RPA-ABB) was shot to death in Barangay E. Lizares, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

He was identified as 44-year-old Jicky “Ka Maitan” Casipe of Barangay Dos Hermanas, Talisay City.

Around four to five unidentified motorcycle-riding men shot Casipe while he was driving his motorcycle on Oct. 4, according to Talisay City police investigator Master Sergeant Rihael Trujillo.

Casipe sustained a gunshot wound on the head, Trujillo said, though it was still unclear how many gunshot wounds Casipe sustained on the body.

Five empty shells of .45-caliber firearm were recovered from the crime scene.

Police believed the suspects took away Casipe’s firearm and sling bag.

One of Casipe’s relatives, who police only identified as “Amay” revealed Casipe was a former member of the New People’s Army but later transferred to the RPA-ABB where he became a commander of the group in Talisay and Silay City areas.

Amay added Casipe was one of the former RPA-ABB members who went to Jamindan, Capiz in a decommissioning ceremony last month.

Police were still investigating his death./PN
