ILOILO City – Police were still trying to determine how or why a 53-year-old former teacher from Jaro district died.
Edward Genosa was found dead in a house he was renting in Barangay Calumpang, Molo.
A neighbor, Michael John Angel, discovered the already decomposing body at around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
A foul odor led the neighbor to the body, said Chief Inspector Marlon Valencia, Molo police chief.
Angel found the lifeless sitting on a chair next to his bed, his arms on his stomach, Valencia said.
Police were still trying to know if Genosa died of an illness or was killed.
Genosa often complained to his neighbors that he was a diabetic and suffering from cough and stomachache, Valencia said, citing initial investigation.
“We are waiting for the autopsy result,” Valencia said.
The last time he was seen alive on Monday morning, Genosa was washing his clothes, said the police.
It was learned that Genosa graduated with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Central Philippine University and once taught at the University of Iloilo and worked at the Iloilo Mission Hospital./PN
