ILOILO City – There is nothing to worry about in the prices of noche buena products, according to Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Iloilo director Diosdado Cadena Jr.
“Manufacturers committed to maintain their prices based on DTI’s suggested retail prices (SRP),” said Cadena, “for the Christmas season.”
There is also no problem in the supply of noche buena products, he added.
“There are many manufacturers as there are distributors. Consumers have a lot of choices so prices are competitive,” said Cadena.
A recent monitoring proved this, according to Ma. Dorita Chavez, senior trade and industry development specialist of DTI Iloilo.
Prices were within the SRP, she stressed, and mentioned an example – fruit cocktail. The brand Fiesta (432 grams) was sold at P54.75 – lower than the P55 SRP. The brand Today’s sold at P49.50 – lower than the P49.75 SRP.
Cheese (Eden brand), on other hand, sold at P48 – lower than the P48.50 SRP.
However, according to Chavez, some noche buena products have limited supply such as ham.
Chavez advised the public to buy this early noche buena products that are not perishable a week or two before Christmas so as not to be inconvenienced by last-minute shopping./PN
