FOR EDUCATION luminaries and patrons, Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio’s resignation as Secretary of Education on Wednesday, June 19, marked a “brighter future” for the agency.
Why?
Educators said VP Sara was really unfit to be the education czar for having no ample background about the education system and problems.
So, it’s time or an opportunity for President Bongbong Marcos Jr. to look for somebody who rose from the rank and knows better all the problems faced by the Department of Education (DepEd) and the thousands of teachers.
EXPECTING ‘WONDERS’
Meanwhile, politicos – both in the national and local scenes – expect many “wonders” to happen out of VP Sara’s calculated moves.
Let it be known that VP Sara is being groomed to run for president in 2028.
So, as the 2025 midterm elections draws near, the Vice President, whether she admits it or not, needs to establish her local strongholds in preparation for her presidential bid.
Questions:
* Will VP Sara join and lead his father’s Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP)?
* Will she remain independent and will just revive her Hugpong Ng Pagbabago (HNP), a regional political party in the Visayas and Mindanao established in 2018, in support of his father’s administration?
Puzzling for now but according to Atty. Jayvee Hinlo, deputy secretary general of PDP-Visayas and Mindanao, “Let’s just wait and see later.”
POLITICAL DISCORD
In Negros Occidental, former governor Lito Coscolluela theorized that VP Sara’s latest move will surely lead to political discord.
That means lots of “political fireworks” will explode, and lots of politicos will be known for their true or fake loyalty or “greediness for power”. May mabisto gid.
Beware! VP Sara is no ordinary woman or politician. Much more if she’s handled by a great PR (public relations) team.
I am almost sure in saying VP Sara really knows what she’s doing and to where she’s heading.
UNFAZED
But Negros Occidental’s Gov. Bong Lacson said he’s unfazed by VP Sara’s HNP.
Whether HNP will field a candidate against him, Lacson confidently stressed that the United Negros Alliance (UnegA) – Love Negros coalition will remain strong.
With this premise, Lacson is ready to seek his third consecutive and final term sans fear whoever will be his challenger.
But the governor believes if VP Sara has her own local bets in Negros Occidental, the 2025 elections would be a more “exciting” political intramurals.
How about in Bacolod City?
It’s intriguing perhaps since VP Sara is publicly known to be former Mayor Bing Leonardia’s political coddler.
Will she bet for Bing against Mayor Albee Benitez?
Sadya gid ni!
SIN-O ANG LOVE NI SARA?
Bacolodnons and Negrosanons reallly love updates on VP Sara. Coffee shops are abuzz.
Talks about Sara, Bong Lacson, Albee Benitez, Greg Gasataya, Bing Leonardia, and Wantan Palanca start to flourish. Opinions here and there start to mill around.
Nothing’s definite yet. But Bacolodnons and Negrosanos really love gossip, especially when it touches politics. Pocket debates matter then.
But at the end of the day, the very question is: Sin-o ang love ni VP Sara sa Bacolod kag Negros?
