SAN JOSE, Antique – The Community Eye Health Program will soon be available to Antiqeuños, according to the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO).
IPHO Irene Dulduco said Fred Hollows Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Australia, had chosen Antique as one of two provinces in Western Visayas that will benefit the eye health program.
“Antique and Negros Occidental are the beneficiary provinces of the Hollows Foundation,” said Dulduco.
She noted the foundation extended around P12 million worth of equipment to be used for the free screening of individuals with defective eyesight.
“The equipment will be put up at the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital,” Dulduco said.
She added part of the funding will be used for the monetary requirements of free eye screening in schools and communities.
“School kids will also be the priority because the program is also a partnership with the Department of Education,” Dulduco noted. (With a report from PNA/PN)
