MANILA – F2 Logistics Cargo Movers have announced the disbandment of their squad at the end of their 2023 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference campaign.

In a statement on Wednesday night, the Cargo Movers said they decided to break up the squad after eight years as they wanted to shift focus on the grassroots volleyball level.

“While this chapter may be closing, we remain committed to supporting the growth of Philippine volleyball through supporting the sports at the grassroots level,” the Cargo Movers said.

In eight years as a volleyball team, the Cargo Movers have won six championships, four runner-up finishes, and three bronze medal finishes in the defunct Philippine Superliga and PVL.

The Cargo Movers were also tapped to carry the country’s colors during the 2016 FIVB Women’s Club World Championship, which was held in the Philippines.

Among the notable players for the Cargo Movers are Ilongga Abigail Marano, Bacolodnon Jessma Ramos, Jolina dela Cruz, Marionne Alba, Kim Kianna Dy, Dawn Macandili, and Mary Joy Baron.

The volleyball squad, however, experienced downtime in the previous PVL conferences as they were hit with injuries in the squad, including in the 2023 PVL All-Filipino Conference, where they finished in sixth place.

“Time has not been good to us. A number of injuries to our players forced us to take a step slower, prioritizing health over victories in the past few years,” the Cargo Movers said.

“We thank you for standing by us and being part of this journey. Your unwavering support has meant the world to us, and we hope to carry the spirit of the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers with us in our future endeavors,” the team added.

With the disbandment, the Cargo Movers players are expected to enter free agency and can sign a contract with their new teams at the start of 2024./PN
