F2 Logistics downs PLDT, goes 2-0 in Superliga

MANILA – F2 Logistics Cargo Movers cruised to its second straight win in the 2019 Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference with a 25-15, 27-25, 25-22 sweep over PLDT Home Fibr Power Hitters on Tuesday night at San Juan Arena.

Filipina-Hawaiian Kalei Mau made a triumphant debut with her former team as she tallied 17 points, 14 of which came from spikes, to go along 14 excellent digs and eight excellent receptions for the Cargo Movers.

“Not bad para sa unang game ng bago sa team,” said Cargo Movers head coach Ramil De Jesus on Mau. “Mas marami pa sigurong adjustments na pwedeng gawin during practice.”

Ilongga Abigail Maraño, Victorinara Galang and Kim Dy also had their contributions as they supplied nine markers each, while Michelle Cobb delivered 21 excellent sets for the Cargo Movers.

After easily winning the first set, the Cargo Movers trailed 19-23 in the second before mounting a huge run to tie the score at 24-all. Mau and Galang came up with back-to-back hits to clinch the set.

In the third frame, the Cargo Movers build a 22-18 lead but the Power Hitters rallied to within 21-22 before F2 Logistics leaned on Mary Joy Baron to capture the match in straight sets.

Meanwhile, Foton Tornadoes recovered from a set down to score a come-from-behind 17-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-21 victory over the Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors. Elaine Kasilag led the way with 20 points for the Tornadoes./PN
