ILOILO City – Mayor Jerry Treñas lifted the order for mandatory wearing of facemask in city government offices.
“Kwaon ta na, the cases are now going down,” Treñas told city hall reporters after Monday’s flag ceremony.
The city logged 13 confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases on June 1 and 18 on June 2, data from the City Health Office showed.
Last month, Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon, who served as acting mayor, issued Executive Order 064-2023 “mandating the wearing of facemasks in all offices of the Iloilo City Government as part of the continued implementation of the minimum public health standards under Alert Level System 1.”
Treñas, who was then on official travel to South Korea, was the one who recommended to Ganzon the return of the use of facemasks at city hall due to the rising cases of COVID-19.
“Our services will be affected if many of our employees are infected,” Treñas said./PN
