BACOLOD City – Eleven boxes of fake cigarettes valued at around P143,000 were seized at a border checkpoint in Barangay Buluangan, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
Saidomar Sarip, 25; Norsaif Kintawan, 27; Muad Ambor, 20; and Mario Mahinay, 33, yielded the illegal products, a police report showed.
The suspects – all residents of Barangay 5, San Carlos City – were nabbed after they failed to show pertinent documents around 8 p.m. on April 1, it added.
They were detained in the lockup cell of the San Carlos City police station, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 8293, or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines./PN
