Fallen ‘lunok’ damages 10 houses

ILOILO City – A lunok tree fell in Zone 1, Barangay Democracia, Jaro district around 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 19, totally wrecking four houses and damaging six others.

The four destroyed houses were owned by Arsenia Fernandez, Annalea Navida, Jeffrey Fuentes, and Delia Divedor.

On the other hand, the six partially damaged houses were owned by Chassen Erecre, Hara Marie Biona, Lofrano Devaras, Maria Lie Doronila, Niño Robiso, and Julie Miasis.

According to Norberto Fuetes, 73, the lunok could be a century old already.

Amo ini nagahatag handong kag sagang sa amon diri,” said Fuentes.

A six-year-old girl was rushed to the West Visayas State University Medical Center after she got injured when the tree fell. She is scheduled to undergo a thigh surgery.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office is set to release financial assistance to the affected families./PN
