BACOLOD City – The dead man found last week in Barangay Pandanon Silos, Murcia, Negros Occidental have been identified.
Relatives identified him yesterday as 24-year-old Christian Diputado, a native of Estancia, Iloilo living in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
The victim’s live-in partner Roxanne Esconde said unidentified men wearing bonnets visited their house in San Carlos City on Dec. 12 looking for Diputado.
On Dec. 13, the victim decided to go to the police and file a report. He failed to return home.
According to Murcia police chief Major Robert Dejucos, Diputado was previously arrested for robbery and illegal drug charges.
Dejucos believed the incident may also be connected to the murder of Muslim leader and businessman Ontao Sacar earlier this month.
He said the Murcia municipal police station and the Bacolod City Police Office have yet to identify the suspects and the motive in the incident.
Diputado’s remains were interred in the Murcia Public Cemetery but plans are now being made to bring it to his hometown in Iloilo./PN
