Family of fallen NPA member receives aid

ILOILO City – The Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) in Iloilo Province has extended financial assistance to the family of a New People’s Army (NPA) member who died in a recent encounter in Barangay Manica, Libacao, Aklan.

The deceased, identified as alias “Jake,” 24, and a former finance and logistics officer of Squad II, Igabon Platoon, Central Front Komiteng-Rehiyon Panay, was killed in an armed clash with government forces.

Jake’s sibling, Re-Ann, accepted the P30,000 cash assistance on behalf of the family.

The family from Lemery, Iloilo received the cash aid through the office of Gov. Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr., with support from Lieutenant Colonel John Vicel Garsuta, commander of the Philippine Army’s 12th Infantry Battalion (12IB).

Additionally, the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Lemery local government provided burial assistance to support the family during their time of grief.
