KALIBO, Aklan – The family of the tricycle driver who was found dead in in Sitio Looban, Barangay Camanci Norte, Numancia, Aklan is seeking justice.

The 39-year old Wilfredo Peralta Tamayo Jr. succumbed to multiple stab wounds.

Two teenagers spotted Tamayo by the road side around 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 27. They initially thought he was just too drunk to go home and sleep.

Tamayo was a native of Barangay Mangan, Banga, Aklan and temporarily staying in Purok 4, C. Laserna, Barangay Poblacion, Kalibo.

He was last seen driving his tricycle on Oyo Torong Street, Barangay Poblacion, Kalibo hours before he was found dead.

Police noticed bloodstains at the back of a waiting sheda few meters away from where where the body was found. Cops believed Tamayo still managed to run after he was stabbed – until he fell to the ground and expired.

Police Staff Sergeant Felizardo Navarra Jr. later said his men recovered the tricycle of Tamayo abandoned in a wooded area of Sitio Pigado, Barangay Bakhaw Sur, Kalibo near the dumpsite.

It was recovered on Monday morning, but a witness said he earlier noticed the abandoned tricycle at around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday.

A closed circuit television footage obtained by the police showed at least three men boarding Tamayo’s tricycle to flee after the execution of the crime around 7:15 p.m.

“Humihingi tayo ng tulong ng publiko sa agarang pagdakip sa mga suspek upang mabigyan natin ng hustisya ang biktima at ang kanyang pamilya,” said Navarra.

A local funeral home in Numancia, Aklan transferred Tamayo’s remains to their house in Barangay Mangan, Banga, Aklan on Nov. 29 where the wake is being held./PN
