BACOLOD City — A farmer was collared by Binalbagan police over robbery and hostage attempts.
A watchman caught Ruben Mamigo Casimero, 40, of Sitio Canbuwen, Barangay Mambugsay, Cauayan town, attemptting to rob a Pasalubong Center at around 3:20 a.m. on Saturday, said Senior Inspector Albert Sy, Binalbagan police chief.
Sy said when the incident started to attract the people’s attention in the bus terminal, Casimero immediately ran to a nearby funeral parlor.
Casimero went inside Glorioso Funeral Parlor where a vigil was being held.
He pulled the hair of a female mourner, Sy said.
Casimero also attempted to hostage the funeral parlor’s owner, Melinda Pamoso, who went to check the commotion, police said.
The mourners ganged up and mauled Casimero.
Casimero was detained at Binalbagan police station lockup cell.
Sy said his family and Jolex Monteclaro, Mambugsay barangay captain, visited him on Sunday.
They told the police that Casimero is suffering from depression due to family problem./PN
