ILOILO City – A farmer was shot in Barangay Sagrada Familia, Dumarao, Capiz.
The 30-year-old Francisco Ibañez died at the district hospital in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo.
The suspect was 59-year-old Romeo Bernardo, also of Barangay Sagrada Familia.
According to the police, an old grudge may have prompted the shooting around 6 p.m. on Jan. 31 at the house of Mylene Joy Estilo.
Ibañez confronted Bernardo about the bad stories the suspect was allegedly spreading regarding him in their barangay.
There was a heated argument followed by a burst of gunfire.
Ibañez was hit in the back. The suspect fled.
As of this writing, Bernardo’s whereabouts were unknown./PN
