ILOILO City – Police are hunting down a laborer allegedly behind the fatal shooting of a farmer.
Romeo Gequillo, 41, has been identified as a suspect in the death of Randy Fagtanan, 42, a police report showed.
Gequillo fled after the incident at around 3 a.m. on Saturday, police said, citing initial investigation.
He remained at large as of this writing.
Investigators are looking into revenge as possible motive.
Fagtanan was in his house in Barangay San Antonio, Tapaz, Capiz when Gequillo, who is from Barangay San Julian in the same town, called on him to come out, the police report showed.
It was not expressly stated in the report what Gequillo wanted from Fagtanan.
Fagtanan ignored the call, prompting Gequillo to barge into the former’s house and fire at the victim, police said.
Fagtanan died instantly. He sustained a gunshot wound on the head, the police report stated.
