MANILA — National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) identified farmers and fisherfolks as the poorest people in the country.

NAPC’s statement comes, following the orders of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for the commission to locate the most impoverished communities in the land.

“The mandate of the President is to look for sectors and communities that have problems,” said NAPC Secretary Lope Santos III on Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon public briefing.

“We had discussions, exchanges, about this and we saw that the poorest sector in our country are the farmers and fisherfolks,” he noted.

Santos also cited the indigenous people and persons living in conflict areas as among the those who are living difficult lives.
