CAPIZ – Twenty harvesters valued at P35 million were distributed by the provincial government of Capiz to qualified farmers’ associations and cooperatives.
A combine harvester is a machine designed to harvest a variety of grain crops. The name was derived from combining four separate harvesting operations — reaping, threshing, gathering, and winnowing — into a single process.
Each unit costs P1,750,000.
The distribution was made possible through the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) mechanization program of the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech).

Gov. Fredenil Castro said farming in the countryside should gear towards modernization.
“Dapat unahon kag suportahan sang gobyerno ang mga mangunguma bangud kon wala sila, magutuman gid kita,” Castro said.
For his part, Roxas City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas thanked the Castro administration for the initiative to help local farmers.
Two of the recipients, the Bago Farmers’ Association and the Barangay Adlawan Farmers’ Association, were from Roxas City.
“Ang proseso sang agrikultura indi madali. Pero paagi sa mga post-harvest facilities, mahatagan opurtunidad ang aton mangunguma nga mapahapos ang ila trabaho, mapatin-ad ang ila produksyon kag kita,” Dadivas said./PN
