Father and son wanted for murder caught

LAUA-AN, Antique – Two of the most wanted persons here were arrested on May 11 at around 1 p.m. in Sitio Mata, Barangay Palangoy, Binangonan, Rizal province.

They were murder suspects Nestor Aretaño, 64, and son Renier alias “Ontong”, 34.

The Aretaños were natives of Barangay Leon, Laua-an but made Barangay Mahabang Parang, Agono, Rizal their residence for several years after disappearing from Antique.

Renier was listed by the Laua-an police as its No. 5 most wanted person while his father Nestor was No. 6.

The father and son had a standing warrant of arrest issued by Presiding Judge Mario Andres Jr. of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 64 (San Jose, Antique).

They were tagged in a shooting and hacking in Barangay Leon, Laua-an on April 2015. A 50-year-old man died. A barbeque vendor was also hit by a stray bullet.

The court recommended no bail bond for the suspects’ temporary liberty.

Both Aretaños were presently under the custody of Anti-Kidnapping Group in Camp Crame and will be turned over to the court in Antique.

Their arrest were effected by the combined elements of the Laua-an police station, Antique Maritime Police, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group – Antique Provincial Field Unit, Antique Police Provincial Office, 2nd Antique Provincial Mobile Force Company, and the Philippine National Police’s Anti-Kidnapping Group based in Camp Crame, Quezon City./PN
