ILOILO – Are the police of Ajuy town beginning to doubt the so-called abduction of a former call center agent in Barangay Central, Ajuy, Iloilo?

According to Chief Inspector Charlie Sustento, Ajuy police chief, the 22-year-old woman appeared to have a made a new Facebook account and his men found it.

Renelyn Ira posted photos in her new Facebook page and she was in what looked like a hotel, said Sustento.

One photo showed her eating alone, said Sustento, but there were three plates and these could indicate she had companions.

“She appeared safe and seemed to enjoy her stay there. There were no sign of threats in the photos,” said Sustento.

Ira’s family reported to the Ajuy police last week that two armed men took her from their house in Barangay Central on the night of Sept. 18.

Strangely, the men told their supposed victim to “dala ka bayo” (bring some clothes), according to the family.

As of this writing, policemen of Ajuy were still looking for Ira but Sustento expressed confidence they would soon locate her and hopefully make sense of what her disappearance was really all about.

“We are zeroing in on the area. We already have an idea,” said Sustento.

The police chief also found it strange that Ira’s parents now appeared uncooperative with investigators.

“Lately, the parents refused to give us more information. We suspect they have an idea where their daughter is,” said Sustento.

From what the police gathered from Ira’s family last week, two men barged into their house around 7:30 p.m. and at gunpoint they held the young woman by the arm then told her parents, “Indi kamo pakulba kay bayad na ‘ni ang bata n’yo. Indi kami rapist (Don’t be scared. Your daughter’s paid already. We’re not rapists).”

The men assured Ira’s parents they would return her to them unharmed.

According to the family, these were the men’s exact words: “Ibalik namon ang bata n’yo nga wala sang gasgas. May maestorya lang sa iya (We’re returning your daughter without a scratch. Someone simply wants to talk to her).”

The men left with Ira on a motorcycle.

The following day, the Ajuy police recovered the motorcycle in Barangay Lantagan, Ajuy.

From the descriptions that the family gave, the Ajuy police managed to come up with cartographic sketches of the two men.

Investigators are not discounting anything in this case, including Ira’s personal relations, said Sustento./PN
