Fernandez re-elected LMP-Iloilo president

ILOILO – Mayor Rosario Mediatrix Fernandez of San Enrique, Iloilo has been reelected president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) – Iloilo chapter yesterday.

She ran unopposed.

Mayor Richard Garin of Miag-ao town who was rumored to be a potential rival was the one who nominated Fernandez.

Garin was elected vice president for external affairs.

“Nagapasalamat gid ako sa mga kaupod ko nga mayors for giving me another term to lead LMP-Iloilo. Nagapasalamat gid ako sa pagsalig kag confidence nila sa aton liderato. Tinguhan ko gid to be of service to them,” said Fernandez.

The other elected officials were the following:

* Vice President for operations – Atty. Suzette Mamon of Badiangan

* Secretary-General – Mayor Liecel Seville of New Lucena

* Treasurer – Mayor Nathalie Ann Debuque of Anilao

* Auditor – Mayor Braeden John Biron of Dumangas

* PRO – Mayor Laurence Anthony Gorriceta of Pavia

* Business Manager – Mayor Vicente Jaen of Leganes

* General Legal Counsel – Mayor Virgilio Teruel of Tigbauan

Elected to the Board of Directors were: Mayor Jennifer Colada of Guimbal; Mayor Roquito Tacsagon of Tubungan; Mayor Malin Holipas of Leon; Mayor Ian Keneth Alfeche of Alimodian; Mayor Francis Amboy of Maasin; Mayor Mark Palabrica of Bingawan; Mayor Robert Pama of Dueñas; Mayor Elvira Alarcon of Batad; Mayor Darwin Bajada of San Dionisio; and Mayor Neilo Tupas of Barotac Viejo.

Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. inducted them.

He took the opportunity to urge local government units in Iloilo to extend help to the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the distribution of financial assistance to indigent students./PN
