DUBBED as “Fiesta Sa Mayo Para Sa Mga Obreros, Year 3,” this year’s Labor Month celebration concluded on May 31 with a food festival and concert held at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol car park.
In partnership with the Iloilo Hotels, Resorts and Restaurants Association (IHRRA), Inc. and ABS-CBN Iloilo, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 6 spearheaded the said event which was highlighted with the giving of certificates of appreciation to local companies and overseas recruitment agencies who participated in the job fair on May 1.
Partner-organizations as well as event sponsors were also given certificates of appreciation for making the month-long celebration a success.
The Fiesta Sa Mayo Para Sa Mga Obreros, Year 3 was enjoyed by guests and spectators as three bands namely, RCP Ritmo Tambores, Remix and ATC performed on stage to entertain the audience.
DOLE Regional Director Ponciano Ligutom noted the event is dedicated to all the Filipino workers as a way of recognizing their huge contribution in building the nation.
Among the big events held in line for this year’s celebration include the Job and Livelihood Fairs in Iloilo Provincial Capitol, SM City Iloilo and SM City Bacolod on May 1; Career and Employment coaching activities; seminars on occupational safety and health; forums for workers and employers groups; tree planting activity on May 10; and the Fun Run for A Cause for the benefit of child workers with the theme “Takbo Tulong sa Manggagawang Bata” on May 24./PN
