BACOLOD City – Fighting illegal drugs is the priority of newly elected Liga ng mga Barangay Provincial Federation president Jovy Pepillo.
Pepillo won against incumbent Liga provincial president Annabelle Bermudo in a 19-12 vote during Monday’s election at Seda Hotel Bacolod.
Pepillo is allied with local political group Love Negros led by Rep. Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez (Negros Occidental, 3rd District) and Vice Gov. Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson.
Bermudo, on the other hand, is under the United Negros Alliance led by Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr.
Pepillo said she will “do her best to be the voice of barangays” at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
Among those who were elected yesterday were Jose Benjamin Sian as vice president, Ma. Misil Hilario as auditor, and Rome Vargas, Romar Cabral, Rosalita Arsenal, Joestarr Bandojo, Antonio Mendeceles, Anthony Wee, Arestotle Tuvilla, and Lorenzo Suatengco as directors.
Bermudo, for her part, thanked those who supported her through “thick and thin.”
She added, “Salamat man sa mga nagpakunukuno nga maupod sa akon.”/PN
