Fil-Am Darren Criss urges PH mayors to implement zero-waste programs

APART from vacationing here with his wife, Filipino-American actor Darren Criss is bringing his advocacy of proper waste management.

On Instagram, the Hollywood star shared a photo of him taking part in segregating waste.

“So let’s talk about waste management,” he wrote in the caption. “Yeah, I know, it’s not a very sexy topic- but that’s exactly why it’s such a massive issue in so many parts of the world.”

“So I decided to take a trip to the Philippines, a country close to my heart, with my friends from @glblctzn to learn specifically about metro Manila’s waste and sustainability challenges,” he said.

Criss, whose mother is Filipino, was referring to Global Citizen, an international organization dedicated to ending extreme poverty by 2030.

Criss went on: “I met a lot of inspiring people who have made incredible strides towards creating a cleaner, greener future, but the obstacles they face are still overwhelming.”

He then urged Filipino mayors to “implement zero waste programs in their cities in partnership with their communities,” and tagged one official who he said has already committed to the cause. (ABS-CBN News)
